It is clear that Corey Conners traveled to Asia this fall with one clear goal, to make a final push towards being one of Ernie Els’s captain’s picks, for the Presidents Cup this December.

In his last two starts, Conners has finished T12 and T6. As well, after the first round of the HSBC World Golf Championship event in Shanghai, Conners sits T7 after firing a five-under 67.

Though these are not full-field events, these are still very strong tournament fields, with many of the top players in the world competing.

Conner’s strong 2019 season may have been enough to already have impressed the captains of Team International, as he was seen in the back of picture posted by Abraham Ancer at a team dinner in South Korea last week, hosted by assistant captain KJ Choi.

The captains pick will be official in the lead up to the event, with each team choosing four additional players.

If he were to make the team he would not be the only Canadian apart of Team International. As Masters winner, Mike Weir is an assistant captain and Medicine Hat, Alberta native, Dale Vallely is the caddie for Abraham Ancer.

The Presidents Cup begins on December 12th at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Victoria, Australia.

The event has taken place 12 times since its inception in 1994. The only time Team International has won has come at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in 1998.
