Mike Weir Qualifies for the US Open

Mike Weir’s year of resurgence continues. After putting numerous good weeks together on the Web.com tour, Weir has now qualified for this years US Open at Pebble Beach in June.

Weir shot a 69 followed by a 67 in the one day 36 hole qualifier.  This will be the 49-year-olds first US Open since 2013, in which he finished tied for 28th at Merion.

Canadian Nick Taylor also qualified through this sectional in Dallas finishing tied for 1st at -10.  Narrowly missing the group of 10 players advancing to Pebble Beach was Jared Du Toit who was a shot out of the top 10.

Weir has made the cut the last two times the US Open has been hosted at Pebble Beach. In 2000 he finished tied for 16th and in 2010 he finished tied for 80th.  As well, Weir boasts six top tens at the annual Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

After qualifying Weir tweeted his excitement about getting back to Pebble Beach.

The US Open begins on June 13th.
